We contract with pet cemeteries & crematories to provide structured grief integration for families following companion animal loss. Our approach is based in narrative psychology and meaning reconstruction, the gold standard of contemporary grief care.

NELSON PAHL, PH.D.
Founder & Program ArchitectNelson holds a Ph.D in Experiential Psychology (Coventry), as well as an MBA Certificate in Management (Tulane). His experience in the mental health & wellness vertical spans more than 20 years, including time as a psychologist, evidence-based writer, and midlife coach. His unconditional love for any and all animals is contagious. He developed PetBond “because grief is grief. It doesn’t matter if it’s the loss of a mother, a sibling, a friend, or a pet. The grief endured in the wake of that loss is still a human experience, it’s still grief, and all grief should be honored.”
SHELLIE RAE
Intake DirectorShellie holds an ABA in Management. Her diverse background includes middle management in the retail pharmacy space, operations management in the cafe niche, and she even co-founded a boutique lawn care company while living in Kansas City. She’s a sucker for anything feline and serves as the go-to emergency pet sitter for pretty much any friend and acquaintence. Shellie joined the team “because I believe in the PetBond experience and Nelson’s vision. I know how effective it can be.”
LYDIA GARCIA
Client Care ManagerAfter attending Rockhurst University for her freshman and sophomore years, Lydia earned her B.A. in YYY from UMKC. She’s worked extensively as an administrator in the research sector and a client care specialist in the wellness industry. Her heart melts whenever she’s around a companion animal. She joined the PetBond cause “because it’s one of the most worthy causes I’ve ever run across. It makes a huge difference in people’s lives.”
